THOMAS WAYNE SASKOSKY

June 26, 1959 - January 26, 2026

Our precious Tom passed away peacefully on the morning of January 26, 2026 at the Gimli Hospital. Cancer claimed his body in a very short time but his beautiful spirit lives on for eternity.

He leaves to mourn his cherished wife Kimberley Dawn; sister Vi Scherbak and husband Joe; nephew Jon Martens, nephew Michael Martens and fiancee Lesya; niece Karen Martin and her husband Steve and family in Malta; great-nephew Hunter Martens and wife Savannah and Sage; father-in-law Keith Hood and Deanna; sister-in-law Cathy Weremy and husband Mark; much extended family and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gus and Chris Saskosky, brother-in-law David Martens and his mother-in-law Dawn Hood.

Tom spent his working life a builder, owning his own framing company for many years. The last years he worked for Ventura as a site supervisor. He was adored by everyone for his calm easy going professional manner. He retired in September 2025, the house was sold (a home he built for them in 1979) and a retirement at the lake was the long awaited second stage of their life. Within a few weeks of moving, he was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. It had so horrifically advanced that treatment was not an option. He spent most of January in the Gimli Hospital, receiving the very best care from the nurses and staff.

Tom loved every pet that graced his life, and also his extended family pets. His last little buddies were Gus and Cosmo. Tom loved his work, but he loved his wife more. He rarely worked weekends so he could spend time with Kim. For a number of years they enjoyed time at their trailer, Hood's Hideaway - the family cottage at Valhalla, or just enjoying the home and yard they made.

Tom was a believer in Christ and has gone to the embrace of Jesus.

There will not be a formal funeral but rather a joyful celebration of his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Spirit of Hope Rescue.

Lamentations 3: 21-22

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.
